Summer/Lake Michigan

Summer has been flying by. Tim and I took Aiden to KY in June and spent time with family and then Aiden stayed there while Tim and I traveled took our "honeymoon" vacation. We went to Michigan and spent time visiting the Great Lakes areas. We visited Sleeping Dunes

National Lakeshore that was beautiful. We spent four nights in Traverse City, MI and had some of the most amazing meals. I thought that Lake Michigan was wonderful. The water was so clear that it looked like Caribbean waters!
I have been stitching a bit. I finished my version of Prairie Schooler's "Santa's Night." I shortened the piece and used GAST threads. I have also been practicing on the sewing machine. I finished my first quilt block! The block is called Great Granny Square and I joined a group on FLICKR that is doing a SAL on this quilt block. The block is not perfect but I am extremely thrilled with it. Thanks to everyone for taking the time out of your busy day to peruse my blog. I will try to update again next week with some Lake Huron pics. Until then, may God bless you all and keep you strong.

New Hobby

I have not posted for almost two months! I have been very busy with school matters. Students have survived another round of SAT and FCAT testing and the count down to the end of the school year has begun! I haven't been cross stitching a lot but I have a little progress to show. I, also, have been trying to learn to sew! I have taken
two beginning sewing classes at Joann's Fabrics. I can actually use a sewing machine now, which is something I didn't know how to do before. I enjoyed the classes so much that I bought a sewing machine and created a little pillow cover. I also made Aiden a dinosaur pillow case. My stitching looks like a beginners. I didn't press the pillow cover like I should have and not all stitching is straight but I am getting better at it. I plan on taking their sewing 201 class this summer. In that class you learn to make a skirt. It should be fun. I also would like to learn to quilt. My mom made the most beautiful quilts until her eyesight became so bad that she couldn't make them anymore. I would like to continue the tradition of quiltmaking for our family. Mr. Aiden got a new haircut on Saturday and looks quite handsome. He hammed it up for the camera! Tim and I are looking forward to our honeymoon vacation this summer. We are going to Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, areas that neither one of us have been to before. Thank you all for taking the time to read this post and for your wonderful comments. Until next time, Happy Stitching!

spring break

Today is the last day of spring break and then it is back to work and the upcoming testing season. My students have one week and then we will begin our SAT testing which is every morning for an entire weeks. It really wipes them out.
Spring break was a lot of fun. Tim, Chris, Aiden and I went to Gatlinburg for three nights. We had a wonderful time. Aiden loved Ripley's Aquarium and we all enjoyed Cade's Cove. Our last evening there, Tim took Chris to play miniature golf and I asked Aiden what he wanted to do. It was the Hollywood car museum. We had a lot of fun in it and Aiden loved the cars. His favorite was an indy car used in a Steve McQueen movie. My favorite was the batmobile used in the Michael Keeton batman movies.
Our house has also been enjoying March Madness. My Cats are looking good but we will have a real test with Indiana next week.
I have also been doing a bit of stitching and I have some pics to show my progress. I am almost finished with my current block of autumn at hawk run hollow, I have completed the borders for the March and April threadpack by little house needleworks, and I have one reindeer left to do on Santa's Night by prairie schooler. I am thinking of not putting the houses at the bottom of the chart and just adding a border to the piece at the bottom. I really don't like the gray houses.
I hope life is being great to everyone and thank you all for your lovely comments. Until we meet again, Enjoy spring and happy stitching!

Happy Presidents Day

Wow! I can't believe it has been over a month since my last post. Life has been very busy. On Jan.24, Aiden turned four years old! Hard to believe little monkey is that old. Aiden had a birthday that seemed to never end! He had a birthday cake baked by our neighbor, two days before his birthday. On his birthday he went to ChuckE. Cheese and had cupcakes. The Sunday after his birthday, we had a birthday party here at the house with family and when he went back to daycare the week after his birthday, he had cookies, juicers and snacks there! My birthday was on Feb.1 and my husband took me out to dinner and to the Hard Rock to spend some cash. My daughter and sister were visiting for Aiden's birthday and spent eleven nights with us. The time flew by quickly and it was a wonderful visit. Aiden had to go to the doctor last Monday to get his yearly physical and his immunizations. He had to have four shots. I felt terrible for him. With all of this busyness, I have only been stitching a bit but I wanted to post updates on Autumn @ Hawk Run Hollow and Santa's Night. I am also posting a pic of Aiden holding new cousin baby Hailey. I hope everyone has a great Presidents day tomorrow and that life treats you well. Until next time, Happy Stitching!

First Post of a New Year

These first few weeks of 2012 have flown by! I have been busy with work but I have managed to get a little stitching in and to spend a little time with Hailey. I am posting a few pics of the first time that Aiden got to meet his new cousin, Hailey. He is thrilled with her and can't wait until she is big enough to play with him.
My daughter, Brianna, and my sister, Kathy, are flying in next week for ten days. They will be here for Aiden's birthday. On Jan. 24 my little monkey will be 4 years old! He has grown from that little 3 lb 5 oz boy to a whole 30 lbs! He is one amazing blessing!
I have been stitching a bit on Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow and on Prairie Schooler's, "Santa's Night." Thank you all for taking the time out of your busy and hectic schedules to peruse my ramblings. God bless you all and keep you safe. Until next time, Adios!
